Online Counselling Brisbane & Gold Coast

Some of the most meaningful conversations I have with clients happen on screen. Online counselling brings the same care, the same experience and the same practical support into your own home, whether you are in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast or anywhere in South East Queensland.

Searching for a counsellor near you?

Counselling that comes to you

If you have been searching for an online counsellor near you in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast, here is the good news: with online counselling, the right counsellor is always near you. Whether you are in the Brisbane CBD, the northside or southside suburbs, Logan, Ipswich, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh, Robina or anywhere in between, your counsellor is one click away.

Life in South East Queensland does not always make room for a drive across town. Between work, family and the traffic between Brisbane and the coast, getting to an appointment, parking, and sitting in a waiting room can be the very thing that stops you getting support. Online counselling removes the distance. We meet by secure video, face to face on screen, and the work we do together is the same work I do in my rooms. You are seen. You are heard. And you do not have to go anywhere to get there.

Many people, many reasons

Who is online counselling for?

Online sessions suit many people across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, for many different reasons. It may be right for you if:

  • The drive, the M1, or a working day makes getting to appointments one job too many
  • You are a parent, and arranging care around appointments is a juggle you do not need
  • You value privacy, with no waiting room and no chance of bumping into someone you know
  • You or your partner travel for work, work FIFO, or you are currently living apart
  • Illness, injury or mobility makes travelling to appointments difficult
  • You simply prefer the comfort and privacy of your own space

Whatever brings you here, the door is open. It just happens to be your own.

Available by video

What can we work on together online?

Almost everything I offer in person is available online to clients in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. That includes:

Simple from the start

How does it work?

1.

Book your appointment

Choose the session length that suits you, 60 minutes or 120 minutes, and book online using the buttons on this page.

2.

Receive your secure video link

Before your appointment you will receive an email with a private link to your video session.

3.

Click the link at your appointment time

The session runs in your web browser. There is nothing to download or install.

4.

We begin, just as we would in the room

Your first session is a relaxed, judgment-free conversation about what has brought you here and what you would like to be different.

Keeping it simple

What you will need

  • A quiet, private space where you feel comfortable talking
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer, tablet or smartphone with a camera and microphone
  • Headphones if you would like extra privacy, though they are not essential

That is all. If you can make a video call to family or friends, you can do online counselling.

An honest word

Is meeting in person ever a better fit?

Sometimes, yes. Some people find it easier to open up in the room, and some situations are better supported face to face. If you are not sure which is right for you, we can simply talk it through when you get in touch. My rooms are at The Realm in Barton, so if you are ever in Canberra you are welcome to meet in person, and for most of my Brisbane and Gold Coast clients, online is simply how we meet.

If you are in crisis or immediate danger, please call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. Online counselling is not a crisis service.

Ready when you are

Book online counselling from Brisbane or the Gold Coast

Taking the first step is often the hardest part. When you are ready, booking is simple. Choose a 60 minute or 120 minute session and pick a time that suits you.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer online counselling for people in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast?
Yes. While DIPAC is based at The Realm in Barton, online counselling is available to clients across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and anywhere in Australia. You receive the same experienced support as an in-person session, from wherever you feel most comfortable.
Is online counselling as effective as meeting in person?
For most people and most concerns, yes. Research consistently finds that video-based counselling achieves outcomes comparable to in-person sessions for a wide range of concerns. What matters most is the relationship between you and your counsellor, and that does not change with the format.
Is my online session private and secure?
Yes. Sessions are held through a secure, encrypted video link generated by our practice software, and your link is private to your appointment. Everything you share is treated with the same confidentiality as an in-person session.
Do I need to download an app or create an account?
No. Your session runs in an ordinary web browser on your computer, tablet or phone. You simply click the private link we send you before your appointment.
Can my partner and I join from different locations?
Yes. Couples and family sessions can be held with each person joining from their own device, whether you are in different rooms, different cities or different states. This is often helpful for couples working through separation, fly-in fly-out schedules or interstate moves.
How do I book, and what about time zones?
Use either booking button on this page to choose a 60 minute or 120 minute session and pick a time that suits you. One small tip: Queensland does not observe daylight saving and our practice is based in Canberra, so double-check the time zone shown when you book to make sure your session lands where you expect.
